It’s Time To Look In The Mirror…
THE MAGIC OF RIGHT NOW
THESE 10 PICS WILL CHANGE YOUR DAY
Sometimes you just run into something that makes you stop and think.
That delightful “lightbulb moment”.
In all the mad rush and non-stop confusion we give ourselves on the treadmill of life, we occasionally chance that brilliant ray of light that grinds us to a halt and asks us to take a look in a different direction.
Well, I have one of those moments right here.
And I am itching to share it with you so please bear with me a moment.
I promise it’s going to be worth the wait.
LIFE – “HAVE TO” OR “LOVE TO”?
So here is the problem.
We are so busy trying to catch up with our overbooked agendas and what we think we have to do, that we actually forget that life is ours.
Yes – OURS!
To be enjoyed in harmony with ourselves and with others.
Over the past 22 years of being immersed in the fitness and health niche, I have had innumerable opportunities to see just how people go through life without really extracting the maximum benefit and enjoyment out of it.
You see, most of the people that come to me for help have made a decision to take up a fitness lifestyle only when they realise how far they have let themselves go.
They are perhaps a little bit older, or out of shape, or unhealthy or perhaps, just unhappy with how they look and what they have become.
Whatever the reason that makes them want to change, it is the delay in realizing the need for change that has always bothered me.
It’s a hiatus that is almost always rooted in our self-inflicted, blinkered vision that causes us to trudge ahead seeing only a fraction of what we really should be seeing.
Missing out on the best things around us.
ARE YOUR BLINKERS ON?
I am not singling anybody out. This happens to all of us.
It certainly happened to me too.
We are so busy trying to live according to the script we have been given that we forget that we alone are the true authors of our own destiny.
We are so focused on trying to make enough money, working a 9 to 5 job that we think we have to do, so that we can buy ornaments we feel will add to our self worth, that we forget it’s all about doing something we love to do.
We get caught up in the meaningless part of life so completely, that we forget the loved ones standing right by our side, waiting patiently for us to find some time for them.
We convince ourselves so absolutely that it’s all for our kids that we erode away the best time of our lives with our children.
Our sons and daughters who were 4 years old yesterday and will be 25 years old tomorrow.
The same kids who were asking us to please play with them today and who are now out of the house and living their own lives.
And yes, time does fly away that fast. Just ask any parent.
In fact, most of us are so busy just trying to catch up with the “should do” rather than with the “I love to do”, that the finest days of our life just pass us by and are lost forever.
We transform life into a burning candle, reducing itself millimeter by millimeter, evaporated by its own flame.
When it should really be a celebration of all the beautiful things that a good and richly lived life can bring.
REMEMBER THE HOURGLASS
Time is our most precious commodity.
Life itself is finite. Time ticks away every second of every day.
Imagine it this way.
Every midnight we are given 86,400 seconds to spend. That’s the amount of seconds in a 24 hour period.
And every second that goes away is a second that will never come back.
Once it’s gone, it’s gone forever.
It’s an inexorable, uncontrollable process that treats everyone in exactly the same way.
Absolutely everyone in the world has his allotted amount of time here on the planet.
Nothing we do can change this.
Social status, character, fame or wealth, or anything else are completely irrelevant.
Time is the great equalizer.
This goes for me, and it goes for you. And for everyone else in between.
And it’s entirely up to us – and us alone – how well we utilize the time we have been given.
We can either fritter it away in the mistaken belief that time is on our side…or we can decide to use it to the best of our ability and make every day a meaningful day.
Starting from today.
Whatever decision we take, it will not affect the amount of time that we have been given.
That countdown can never be stopped or altered.
What our decision WILL do is determine the amount of good we can do with that time.
MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL…
Remember that lightbulb moment I wanted to share with you?
Well, I had THAT moment today.
I was sent this series of pictures created by award-winning photographer Tom Hussey, and that light instantly switched on in my head.
And I want to share these with all of you, so that you can also stop and think.
The people you see in these pictures are normal, everyday people. Just like you and I.
They are looking into the mirror and reminiscing on how they used to look like in the glory days of their youth.
The feelings, the outlooks, the dreams, the plans of yesterday.
The magic in these pictures is that they will give you an opportunity to reflect on your own personal story.
Your own life.
The story of You that you are writing.
Because the pen of your life story is always in your own hand. Always.
You are the author of your own destiny.
Always keep that in mind.
I hope that you are as enthralled with these pictures as I have been.
And I hope they will mean as much to you as they do to me.
My wish is that they will give you a reason to make your life that little bit better. That little bit more your own.
So that you can stop, take a step back, and reach out once again to the ones who truly love you.
The people that give meaning to your life.
Those people that colour each and every day of your own unique journey with their own distinctive and beautiful hues.
A heartfelt “Thank you!” goes out to master photographer Tom Hussey for sharing his vision with us.

It’s true isn’t it? You can always get more of everything, one way or another, but you can never, ever get more time.
