What’s the saddest phrase in English?
“If only…”
What’s the most dangerous phrase?
“I know!”
And what’s the single biggest lie we tell ourselves?
“I can’t!”
Three phrases. Two words. One lifetime of a difference.
Saying “I can’t!” is just our way of shrugging off our involvement in our own destiny.
It’s the easy way out.
Telling ourselves we are unable to do things will completely limit every single possible achievement we can accomplish in life.
Because once we say “I can’t!” we have severed our responsibilities to what we need to do to get from A to B.
“Na-huh! Not me! I’m not involved.”
If there is nothing we can do about it…then we will do nothing about it.
Isn’t that just so very convenient?
The truth is “I can’t” is just a cop out we use when we don’t want to put in the hard work involved.
“I can’t” gives us the opportunity to stay where we are, within the confines of our comfort zone, so that we don’t have to face our fears.
It’s a lot easier to let go and blame the Universe after all.
It’s self delusion at its finest.
The truth is not that we can’t – it’s just that we won’t.
We won’t put in the work involved. We won’t step out of our comfort zone. We won’t take responsibility for our failures. We just won’t do what we need to do to become better than we are today.
Teaching the difference between “I can’t!” and “I won’t!” is one of the most vitally important steps we can make in our own evolution.
Once we realize how truly involved we are in our own destiny and how much power we can harness and use to our own benefit, there is literally no limit to what we can accomplish.
This is indeed one of the pivotal differences between success and failure.
(And it is the backbone of our Re-Invention program.)
So, try changing your “I can’t!” into “I can!” and do just that one thing today that you have been putting off forever.
Take a risk! Why the hell not?
Remember, we become our thoughts.
Our beliefs dictate our behaviours.
And something as simple as a change in what we tell ourselves can fundamentally change our lives.
So pucker up, breathe deep, jump in…and get it done.
You will be amazed at what you can achieve when you believe.
