Here is one of life’s greatest truths.

If you’re not evolving – you’re DYING!

It’s either one or the other.

This goes for everything in life – business, personal growth, health, relationships – anything you don’t work on is going to wither and wilt.

I don’t care how much you try to convince yourself that you can maintain the status quo.

I call bullshit on that one.

You can never sit on the fence. It’s wishful thinking.

It’s one side or the other.

Look.

I was talking to a client of mine this morning, answering her questions when she suddenly broke off and said “You know, there are so many things to know, I’d rather not know anything at all and just go through life unaware.”

Seriously?

You’d rather be ignorant all your life?

You’d rather be a sheep and just plod behind the other sheep?

So the only thing you’d know in life was just another sheep’s butt?

That makes you a puppet master’s dream.

You can be conned, lied to, manipulated, used and told what to do – and you’d do it blindly.

Because you wanted to be blind.

And wilful blindness, people who just don’t want to see, are the worst kind of blind.

I can think of no fate worse than that.

Blinkering myself because I decide to do it, closing out every avenue of knowledge and losing out on every chance I had to become the absolute best I could be.

HELL NO!

In the immortal words of Emiliano Zapata “I’d rather die on my feet, than live on my knees.”

(And that dude had a serious mustache and Mexican sombrero going too.)

It’s always, always better to know as much as you can.

It’s always better to stand up when others are sitting down.

It’s always better to walk in the opposite direction of the crowd.

Standing apart gives you a perspective that following the ass in front of you never will.

And when you realize that you have an incredibly short time to accomplish what you need to do in life, you’ll probably figure out that you need to light a fire under your ass.

And get shit done.
