I fear being average
I fear staying the same
I fear being conventional and pointing fingers
When I am really the only one to blame

I fear accepting the status quo
And thinking that simply not sliding backwards is a feat
When I should know better that the status quo does not exist
And sitting on the fence is, in itself, resignation and defeat

I fear not achieving my full potential, of not being the best I can be
I fear getting used to comfort and just letting go of whom I was meant to be

I fear normality, just being part of the crowd
When my voice should be strong, vibrant and loud

I fear letting those who love me down by not being all that I can
And I fear they will still love me even when I am only an average man

I fear letting my life become mundane mainstream living
When it’s never about the taking and all about the giving

I can’t allow this, I will never be this way
I refuse to fade into a whisper in the night
I will stand up and make you pay attention
Everyday from today is a good day to fight

Look at me! I am a volcano, an earthquake, an unstoppable force
I will die fighting and screaming, no space for remorse

I will move mountains, I will change lives, I will leave my indelible mark
I will be uncontainable, inexorable, a furious inferno born of a spark

I will stand up and be counted, have my say and speak my mind
I will gather the willing, share knowledge, leave no man or woman behind

I will give all I can to those who really want to change
I will walk paths seldom trodden, no matter how strange

Because I am not here to quietly float away,
Out of your minds and hearts and into yesterday

I am here to change history, through hard work, blood, sweat and tears
This is our fight, our lives, the time to conquer all fears
