We taught him how to be awesome…he taught me how to swear in Scottish.
TAKING THE SCOTSMAN TO SCHOOL
When Sean first walked into the BodyForge, I had to ask him to wait.
You see, I was coaching one of my Re-Inventees at that time, and to me, that’s the time for maximum focus on my client.
So, at that point, as Metallica would say, nothing else matters. My client gets the best of me.
I actually do that as my modus operandi – complete and unique attention to my client is the normal thing to do.
Sean would later tell me such attentiveness to a client I have rather than a potential one impressed him.
Which is cool. Sean’s turn would come.
Of course, as we do with every single one of our clients, he still had to sit down and go through how we do things at The BodyForge before he even touched a single weight.
You see, at The Forge, we engage in what we call a Discovery Session with every single one of our potential applicants…before we even sign them up.
It gives us a chance to get to know them, and exactly what they are looking for, so we can see if we can provide what they are expecting.
Not everyone is a good fit for us, just as much as we are not a good fit for just anyone.
You can’t just shamble in here, waving your wallet and expect to be given a membership.
It’s not going to happen.
We leave that kind of stuff to the box gyms. The ones who are just interested in numbers.
The anything goes guys.
Here, we focus on quality clients.
The ones who love to learn. Who are open to coaching. The ones who want to listen.
The kind of person who truly wants to succeed.
We want to surround ourselves with people who love to work with us just as much as we love to work with them.
And Sean is exactly that kind of guy.
He ticks off all the boxes.
Eager to learn, loves to listen, willing to try things out, and, most importantly, great fun to be around.
And I am quite sure we gave him a few workouts to remember.
Didn’t we Sean?
(Really sorry about the calves by the way. But I hope the massage made up for it. Haha!)
****************************************
So, after all was said and done, Sean actually wrote us a note just before he left.
And this is what he had to say about us.
I’ll be honest. I went to this “gym” (I shall correct that term later in this piece) with low expectations.
I expected to meet an egomaniacal owner who overcharged for the privilege of training in an atmosphere where, as a holidaymaker, I would be growled at through a fake smile by all of the local apes.
How wrong I was.
I was interviewed for acceptance into what he called his community and being accepted for my fortnight’s stay was to be one of the best “gym” experiences of my 45 years on the planet.
I was introduced from day one to all of the apes who, by virtue of being in their gym, their arena, their second place of worship, gave me immediate respect and acceptance. These people are focused, driven, helpful and committed. This is an ethos instilled by Donatello Pisani with no room for interpretation – you are either part of the community or you get to stand on the outside looking in at what you could have had or what you could have been.
The BodyForge, its members, its facilities, its community will be for me not a “gym” but a way of life, my new religion and, like anything that requires faith, trust and belief, the more you attend this “Church of Physiology” the more your life will be changed for the better.
“In Don We Trust”
Sean
You best be getting back here soon Sean.
There’s a lot more to be had where that came from.
(And yeah, we miss you!)
God bless.
